Patrouille Memphré-sud

Your Safety on the Water

The Patrouille Memphré-Sud was founded in 2025 following the dissolution of the MRC Memphrémagog water patrol. As the Municipality of the Township of Potton has firefighters trained in water rescue, it was only natural for it to create its own patrol to serve its sector and neighbouring areas.

Since April 2025, it has been responsible for boating safety on Lake Memphremagog for citizens and boaters from the southern part of the lake to the U.S. border, i.e. Potton, Ogden and Stanstead Township.

Area of Operation

The patrol enforces the laws and regulations in force in these areas, and intervenes in the event of violations. It will also enforce environmental laws and regulations, manage seasonal permits and play a preventive role with boaters.

Safety Equipment for Small Boats

Depending on the type of boat you have, we recommend that you check the Quebec and Canadian boating safety regulations. It’s important to ensure that your safety equipment is in good condition and accessible at all times. For all types of boats, a flotation jacket is mandatory. A sound signalling device is mandatory for motorboats and suggested for small boats.
