Revision of urban town plan and by-laws
Revision of the urban planning plan and by-laws

Context
In 2025, the Municipality of the Township of Potton began a process of revising its urban town plan plan and by-laws.
This municipal review is being carried out in accordance with the MRC Memphrémagog’s sustainable development and land use plan (SADD).
The SADD provides a set of guidelines for the municipal framework for land use planning and development. You will find all the information on this subject on this page.
The Municipality first invited the public to respond to a short survey about its urban town plan and by-laws. Among other things, the survey addressed access to housing, environmental protection, and heritage enhancement.
More than a hundred citizens participated in the survey.
Public consultation workshop
Subsequently, a public consultation workshop was held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Saint-Cajetan Church. The workshop was led by Sandra Guilbert, a geographer from Guilbert Urbanisme, a firm hired by the municipality to assist in the preparation of its town plan. The workshop provided an opportunity to gather citizens’ needs and expectations around six themes: Living environments, Identity and image of the municipality, Environment and natural environments, Agricultural and forest environments, Tourism, recreational tourism, and vacationing, Mobility and transportation.
Following the public consultation workshop, which took the form of roundtable discussions, a report was drafted. You can view it by clicking on the button provided.
Next steps: drafting the second part of the urban plan (vision, guidelines, objectives, courses of action) in light of the consultations, drafting the proposed regulations, and initiating the adoption process in spring 2026.
