The Urban Planning Department
An inspector’s job is much more than just issuing permits.
The inspector has many other responsibilities, including handling complaints and requests for information on regulations. They also analyze permit and certificate applications, ensuring that they comply with the laws and regulations in force in the municipality.
They must serve each member of the community on an equal footing to ensure the common good. In other words, all inspectors treat applications in the same way, since they all work to the same standards. What’s more, a single permit application may require several meetings with the inspector, and issuance of the permit is conditional on the regulations in force.
Inspectors are also called upon to visit sites to analyze requests, ensure compliance of work carried out and follow up on permits, or respond to complaints forwarded to the department.
Given the diversity of by-laws to be applied and the size of the territory, 2 inspectors are employed by the municipality. Check your type of project carefully to find out who to contact to speed up processing.
